My Trip to Paris
Well, I'm back from my trip to Paris. As many of you know, my wonderful girlfriend Judy is attending a university in France for the next six months. I took some time off work and decided to help her move in to her dorm. Somewhere along the way something went awry and I never made it to France, in fact, I never made it across the pond. After Continental Airlines screwed up my tickets to the tune of $1500 more than they were supposed to be, I got bumped from the flright from Newark to Paris and Judy was basically dragged onto the plane. My bags got to go to Paris, and three days later I was able to retrieve them from customs, albeit by bribing (yes, I admit it) a customs official to get my bags out of the holding area. I have no shame in doing this. I had been wearing my clothes for three days straight at this point (albeit having been washed nightly, thankfully). Try and Try again was my motto for a few days as I tried to get on about a dozen flights across the pond, to no avail. Although I was standing at the end of the ramp next to the door of a 777 as it prepared to leave for Brussels, and I watched as it pulled away with 5 empty seats on board and continental refused to bump anyone to first class to fill them..... So I'm a bit pissed off to say the least, and I will be creating a very, very wonderful letter to Continental, although, as usual, it will do absolutely nothing except clog up a shredder for a few brief seconds. Oh well.
