Dell Vs. HP
So at the new office we need to upgrade. Everyone is pretty much on e-machines and those that aren't all have "borrowed" software. Seeing as how software is expensive as shiat, it's actually cheaper to buy all new machines with the software included. Essentially we need XP pro and office 2k3, which is like $500 or so per machine for the software....
So I figured I should check out Dell, I know HP sucks ass, that's what we had at DHelL and if you put the machine too close to the monitor the colors would distort....
But, as with any situation, you always give the boss two choices, so I call up Dell and schedule a sales rep to come out...Then I get this flash of inspiration, I call up the HP guy and schedule him for the exact same time....
They both show up, Dell guy was early, HP guy was late...I'm not surprised.
So I walk the guys around the office, tell them what I want, sit them down at a table, I sit on the other side between them.... I just say "Okay, tell me what you guys can do for me"
This is where the fun part comes in, they bicker and argue back and forth and actually start yelling at each other for a while, the Dell guy gets so pissed he throws out a number for the 10 machines I want, and the 3 laptops.....I turn to the HP guy and ask "can you beat that?" he gets this really nasty look on his face and says, let me run some numbers. I took that to mean..."No" and bid him farewell, as he was leaving I told the Dell guy I need a few servers as well.
But in the meantime, I'm getting 10 Dell Dimensions, with 19" flat panels, 80 gig HD's, 1 Gig RAM, 16x DVD burners, the usual good stuff, including the free printers I'm going to e-bay.
PC price = $513 each...teehee
Laptop price = $928 each...
I think I'm going to call up IBM and see if the Dell guy wants to have some more fun.
